Please join us on May 19 at 7:30 PM for the swearing in of officers.  Incoming officers and attending members are encouraged to wear the uniform with short sleeved shirt, dress blue trousers, and MCL cover.  Food and soft drinks will be provided.

 

 

Meeting Update:

The April 21 meeting was conducted as scheduled with 18 members and a visitor from another detachment in attendance. The Paymaster, Bill Costello,  provided a detailed report. The detachment continues to be in good financial shape.  Chaplain Mike Whalen reiterated that he is prepared to communicate with all family and members in distress or sick.  An update was provided at Dave Barth's recent illness.  Full recovery is expected.

Nominations of Officers:

The slate of officers for the upcoming year was nominated.   There being no contested positions, motion was made and seconded to approve the slate of officers as nominated.  The membership approved the nominations as follows:
Commandant: David Gentes
Senior Vice Commandant: James Hastings
Junior Vice Commandant:  Paul Carew
Adjutant: Warren Griffin
Judge Advocate:  John MacEntegart
Paymaster:  Bill Costello
Chaplain: Michael Whelan
Sergeant at Arms:  Pending incumbents return, may be filled by appointment

Swearing-in of officers will occur at the scheduled meeting on May 19.  All are reminded that attending in uniform is desired.

Golf Committee:

Jim Hastings reported that materials and plans are in place for the August 17 tournament.  The committee will met on 12 May at the Natick Community Center.  Materials for advertising sales and raffles will be distributed with the next Scuttlebutt mailing.

Membership Activities:

A meeting has been scheduled at the Natick Community Center for 5 May.  The purpose of this meeting is outreach to Post 9/11 veterans.  On-line notice has been posted and print notices are in process.


Charitable Outreach:

Motion was made and approved to donate $500 to help a local Marine who is battling cancer.  Initial proposal was for $200 but the amount was raised after discussion.

Correspondence:

The New England Chapter of the 3rd Marine Division Association has sent out contact information for interested Marines.  The who wish to pursue membership may contact mgkm@yahoo.com or call Ray Kelley at 508 459 9937.
