Awards and Recognition
The selection committee has recognized John "Mac" MacEntagert as the Detachment Marine of the Year.  Mac is a constant presence at all events and his commitment is always above and beyond expectation.  Mac is the resident expert on procedure and by-laws.  In addition to his detachment role, Mac is active in the Mass State MCL leadership.  His selection is an appropriate recognition of his efforts and an example for Marine Corps League members

Golf Tournament Planning:  Please plan to help
Mailings have gone out to players in the golf tournament.  The event will be on  August 18 Juniper Hill Golf Course in Northborough.  Remmber that it is important that all members participate by selling advertising and arranging raffle prizes.  A prepared letter and order form has been sent to all members.  More willl be sent with the next mailing.  On the day of the tournament, help will be needed in a number of roles.   Please plan to be available if at all possible.  This is our major fundraiser and vital to all of our programs. We all need to pull together to make this succeed.

Rose Program
Roses are available for members to distribute in return for donations.  Local merchants and other high traffic areas are prime places to conduct this effort.  If each member puts in two hours, we will have a robust amount of funds to support outreach.   This is a great way to meet people and help the detachment at the same time.  Please feel free to contact Dave Gentes at 781 235 8085 with questions.
25th Marines “Burger Burn” at Fort Devens
The second cookout of the season was held on May 17th.  Detachment members Jim Hastings, Mac MacEntagert, and Dave Gentes were  joined Dave Brooks and Ed Aucoin from the Shutt Detachment to prepare and serve hot dogs, hamburgers, and kielbasa for over 200 Marines.  Funded by the state MCL, individual detachments, and corporate donations, this event raises funds to defer the expense of the Marine Corps Ball for 25th Marines.  More help at future events will be desirable.

Scholarships
The committee has reviewed all applications and selected four scholarship recipients.  Notifications will be sent out to recipients.
