A Note from the Detachment Leadership

We have heard recently that Commandant Mike Whalen is facing health issues and awaiting a significant medical procedure.  Mike is a past Commandant and formerly held a number of other leadership positions in the detachment.  He was gracious enough to accept the role of Commandant again.
In addition to the Marine Corps League, Mike is active in his local American Legion post and is employed as an American Legion Service Officer.   Additionally, Mike works as an official in area football and baseball leagues.  We encourage all to keep Mike Whalen in their thoughts and prayers as he faces this health challenge, and we hope for a successful resolution.

The Metrowest Detachment will resume meetings on Tuesday September 20th at 7:00 PM at the Natick Amvets.  Please plan to attend.  If you have friends, neighbors, co-workers or other contacts who have interest in regular or Associate membership, please invite them to attend also.  Associate membership is open to anyone who has interest in participating in supporting the MCL and the Marine Corps and their interest and involvement is welcome.  We will continue to support Toys for Tots, VA Hospital Bingo, Cookouts for the 25th Marines, and other activities that can benefit from the energy of Associate Members.  Contacts who are active duty or honorably discharged Marines, FMF Corpsmen, or FMF Chaplains are eligible for regular membership.  Increased participation will enable us to continue our long history of support to the veteran community.

The possibilities that we have for detachment activities are limited only by the commitment and energy of our membership.  Each of us can be part of growing the detachment and making it healthier.  Please come to meetings with ideas and all will be explored.

 Attention on Deck!!!

With the arrival of the Labor Day weekend, we confront the end of summer and the return to normal scheduled activities.  We will resume meetings at the Natick AMVETS on Tuesday, September 20 at 7:00 PM (1900 Hrs).  The detachment will welcome the attendance of all members and potential members. We are fortunate to have a strong core of committed members who are active participants, and we would like to add to that core.  Take advantage of the opportunity to reach out to Marines, Corpsmen, Chaplains, and family members and encourage them to join and participate in MCL activities.  During this year, we will focus on increasing membership and participation in detachment activities.  We are looking forward to a successful year.
